Professional Services

Comprehensive eye exams by the Doctors are designed to evaluate the overall health of the visual system and its related functions. This is accomplished by viewing the interior and exterior of the eye, for signs of various systemic diseases like Diabetes, Hypertension, and Aids. The tests conducted by the Doctors will also determine and correct the refractive state of the eye, the ability to focus and coordinate the eyes, the maintenance of proper fusion and depth perception, and proper color vision viewing. Peripheral vision testing and intraocular eye pressures are also an integral part of every exam.

The Doctors are certified to use diagnostic and therapeutic pharmacological agents to diagnose and treat many eye related conditions ranging from eye allergies and infections to corneal ulcers. More serious conditions like Glaucoma and Cataracts can be diagnosed and referred to specialists and may be co-managed with the Doctors.

At Sea View Optometric Center we are direct providers for most major vision plans, and we can also assist you in billing most private vision plans that we are not direct providers for.

Dry Eyes

This is one of the most common ailments affecting the eyes. It also tends to be one of the most under treated eye diseases. The latest studies show that about 25 million Americans suffer from this problem. Symptoms can vary from dryness and scratchiness to watery eyes and constant tearing. Common causes are aging, medications, the environment, computer use, autoimmune disease and even contact lenses. Dry eyes is the most common reason why people must stop wearing their contact lenses and begin to either wear their glasses full-time or start to seriously consider laser vision correction as an option. Fortunately, there have been many new and exciting developments in the ways that we treat this disease. Dr. Bisson and Dr. Gwizdak can accurately diagnose the cause of your dry eye symptoms and then explain which treatment options are right for you.

Low Vision

If you are visually impaired, you can benefit from the Doctors personalized attention to this specialty which, in many cases, can help extend and maximize the vision you have. This branch of optometry is especially valuable for people affected with vision conditions such as Macular Degeneration.

Athletic and Occupational Visual Needs

Certain occupations and sports may require special "task specific" testing based on the visual demand. In addition to eye wear for general purpose use, various types of special purpose eye wear are available. Different occupations can impose demanding visual requirements on your eyes and may require lenses that are different than those for everyday use. Patients who use a computer can be tested with the new PRIO® testing to determine the lens that will make your vision clear and comfortable while working at the computer. There is an extensive selection of speciality bifocals, trifocals and progressive addition lenses for all types of occupations and visual requirements. A variety of special eye wear is available for the safety and visual needs of sports enthusiasts, including prescription swim goggles, racquet sports protective eye wear, and polarized lenses for all types of water activities.
