Dr. Bisson began practicing optometry

of 1990 he began practicing optometry
in a private setting in Long Beach, California
with an alumnus, Jeannette Hochstatter,
O.D. After approximately 3 years of practicing
together Dr. Hochstatter decided to relocate
to Oregon and Dr. Bisson took over the
practice full time. In October of 1996
Dr. Bisson purchased a building at 328

Kevan Lawson design the current location
of Sea View Optometric Center. The latest
expansion and remodel was completed in
the spring of 2004.

ABOUT
KRYS GWIZDAK,
O.D.
Dr. Krzysztof Gwizdak
or “Dr. Krys” as he likes to be called,
has lived most of his life in Long Beach
and surrounding areas. His family came
here from London, England, his birthplace,
when he was just two years old. He received
his Doctorate degree from the Southern
California College of Optometry in 1993
after having graduated from California
State University at Long Beach and Millikan
High School, also in Long Beach.
Working in various settings,
from private optometric practices to ophthalmology
surgery/research offices to lasik surgery
centers, has given Dr. Gwizdak a wide
range of experiences in the eye care field.
Some of his most interesting and rewarding
work was as a clinical investigator for
FDA phase III research studies. These
were studies designed to allow approval
of revolutionary new medications for the
treatment of various eye diseases. Many
of these medications are in use today.
One of the most important studies he was
involved in was for the approval of Allergan’s
Restasis. This is the first eye drop of
its kind that treats dry eyes by actually
stimulating tear production. In November
of 1999, Dr. Gwizdak underwent lasik surgery
to correct his nearsightedness. To this
day, his vision is still better than 20/20.
Like most other people that have had laser
surgery, he will still tell you “ It’s
the best thing I ever did for myself “.
Dr.
Gwizdak came to Seaview optometric in
the summer of 2002
to help Dr. Bisson with a rapidly growing
practice. His expertise in pediatrics,
refractive surgery, and ocular disease
(especially dry eyes), is a wonderful
complement to the many services already
offered at Seaview Optometric Center.
Dr. Gwizdak is a member
of the American Optometric Association,
California Optometric Association and
the Rio Hondo Optometric Society. In his
spare time, he donates his time and energy
to such fundraising events as the annual
Revlon Run/Walk for Womens’ cancers and
the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
Although tennis, water skiing and snow
skiing are some of the doctors’ favorite
activities, his true passion is deep sea
fishing. He has traveled to exotic locations
such as Costa Rica, Alaska, and far offshore
in Mexican waters to catch trophy halibut,
roosterfish, marlin, and giant tuna. He
always has a good “fish tale” to share
with his patients.
